Isitshwala & Malusu/Maguru Delivery

Malusu and maguru is the dish people ask for when they want the cooking they grew up with, not a version of it adapted for someone else.

Isitshwala served with slow-cooked malusu and maguru offal stew and leafy greens

Isitshwala/Sadza & Malusu/Maguru — £12.00

Traditional isitshwala with slow-cooked offal stew & greens. A heritage dish from home.

About this dish

This is a slow-cooked offal stew served with isitshwala and greens. Malusu and maguru are known by different names across Southern Africa, and the plate arrives the way it is eaten at home: the stew and its sauce alongside a firm portion of isitshwala, with leafy greens to cut through the richness.

Offal rewards patience, which is why it is cooked slowly rather than quickly. The texture is the point. If you already know this dish, you will know whether it has been done properly; if you have never tried it, it is one of the most honest introductions to Zimbabwean and wider Southern African home cooking on the menu.

Sadza and isitshwala are the same staple under two names, and both terms are used here because our customers use both.
